Patna. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said here on Thursday that “the entire country wants to know what will happen in the Bihar elections, as this election is not limited to Bihar alone, but will determine the future of the country.” Gehlot is on a visit to Bihar as a senior observer. At a press conference, he said that “twenty years of destruction” is a powerful message in itself. At a press conference organized by the party, Gehlot said that Bihar has suffered a severe lack of good governance in the last twenty years. He said, “Nitish Kumar has repeatedly changed sides, which has led to a lack of solid and consistent governance in the state.

Without good governance, development, problem resolution, and infrastructure construction are impossible. This is why Bihar has lagged behind in all areas, and its plight is evident to all.” Present at the press conference were former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, senior party leaders including General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram, Bihar Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed, and Akhilesh Prasad Yadav. Congress leaders also released the booklet “20 Years of Destruction.” Referring to the corruption prevalent in the state government and the serious allegations against ministers, Gehlot also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said, “There are openly and factually based allegations against the Deputy Chief Minister and ministers, yet no one is resigning. It seems as if the Prime Minister has made a policy decision that no minister’s resignation will be accepted, no matter what. This trend is extremely unfortunate in a democracy.”

Gehlot also criticized the central government’s economic announcements, saying that the Prime Minister had promised assistance ranging from ₹50,000 crore to ₹1.25 lakh crore for Bihar, but there is no visible impact on the ground. Modi had promised to provide Bihar with aid ranging from 50,000 crore rupees, 60,000 crore rupees, 80,000 crore rupees, and even 125,000 crore rupees, but no one knows what happened to it. Earlier, upon Gehlot’s arrival in Patna, Congress workers gave him a grand welcome.
