Indian team reaches semi-finals, this win will provide psychological boost

New Delhi. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team secured its place in the semi-finals by defeating the West Indies by 5 wickets in the final match of the T20 World Cup Super 8 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. With this victory, the Indian team moved to second place in the points table in Group 1, behind South Africa, with 4 points. South Africa remains in first place with 6 points. India and England will now face each other in the semi-final match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 5th. Team India won the hearts of sports fans by defeating the West Indies by 5 wickets in the final match of the Super 8. South Africa and India have advanced to the semi-finals from Group 1 of the Super 8. England and New Zealand have advanced to the semi-finals from Group 2. The first semi-final of this T20 World Cup will be played between South Africa and New Zealand on March 4th. West Indies, batting first, scored 195 runs. In response, Team India secured victory with four balls to spare. Sanju Samson played a brilliant innings of 97 not out off 50 balls for India. He also hit 12 fours and four sixes. This victory was eagerly awaited, as it was a do-or-die match, a win that was crucial for the Indian team. The defeated team was certain to be eliminated. India was caught in a similar predicament. Now, with this victory, Team India has taken a step towards retaining the title. Defending champions India possess the potential. The Indian team has largely succeeded in proving this with this win. India also chased down its largest target in T20 World Cup history. In the T20 World Cup Super Eight match against India, West Indies scored 195 runs for the loss of four wickets. In response, India won the match with four balls to spare. India won the match by scoring 199 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 19.2 overs. Sanju Samson emerged as the hero of the victory by scoring the highest 97 runs for India. Sanju Samson was chosen as the Player of the Match. This is not only a victory for the Indian team but will also provide a huge psychological boost to the team India which is under immense pressure, which is very much needed.
The Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), started on February 7. India is the current champion and two-time winner.
