New Delhi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah described Modi becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister as a historic achievement during a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Mr. Shah stated that under the leadership of the illustrious Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has set new benchmarks in political stability, decisive leadership, robust foreign policy, transparent governance, rapid economic growth, and public welfare. Amit Shah remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has laid the foundation for building a self-confident, self-reliant India that plays a leading role on the global stage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President Shri Nitin Navin, and senior NDA leaders were present at the event.
Shah noted that the country is witnessing a historic moment as Modi becomes the longest-serving elected Prime Minister. The previous record was set during an era when elections took place in the shadow of the freedom movement; that period lacked competitive politics and high aspirations for development. Today, in an era defined by the politics of performance, leading the nation for such an extended period and being repeatedly elected by the people is a monumental achievement in itself. By providing leadership over this long span, Modi has propelled the country forward on every parameter of development. Moreover, this era will be remembered in the nation’s history as a period of political stability, as well as one characterized by the formulation of policies and their consistent implementation.
The Union Home Minister stated that this period would be recognized for establishing a foreign policy with a strong backbone. Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure will be known for shaping a defense policy that makes no compromises regarding the nation’s honor. The country has seen 13 Prime Ministers over the last 62 years. The country has witnessed numerous coalition governments and multi-party administrations. It has also endured a long period of political instability. Many recognize the respected Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, as a leader who rises to the occasion during times of crisis. When Modi ji became the Chief Minister of Gujarat, the state was grappling with a severe crisis; it had just faced the most devastating earthquake tragedy of the century. At that time, Modi ji led from the front, guiding Gujarat out of the shadow of the earthquake and transforming it into a developed state. I urge and invite everyone to visit Kutch; today, Kutch stands as a living example of how transformation takes place.
Shri Shah noted that in 2020, while he was serving as the Union Home Minister, the global COVID-19 crisis struck. Demonstrating collective leadership, Modi ji rallied not only the central government and its departments but also all state governments and the 1.4 billion citizens of the country to steer the nation out of this immense crisis. Under Modi ji’s leadership, India was among the first nations to develop a vaccine. India’s battle against COVID-19 came to be viewed as a model of crisis management. Today, people from across the globe are coming to study how India managed the pandemic. Whether it was the Doklam standoff, the Russia-Ukraine war, or the tensions between the US and Iran—amidst these world-shaking events, the successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi made decisions with composure, always prioritizing India’s interests above all else. Even while the rest of the world was besieged by crises, India accelerated its pace of development. Simultaneously, Modi ji worked to advance the politics of consensus. Today, the NDA governs approximately 80 percent of the country’s landmass and 76 percent of its population, commanding 22 state governments, 292 Lok Sabha MPs, 144 Rajya Sabha MPs, 2,315 MLAs, and over 222 Legislative Council members. This is the result of the Honorable Prime Minister Modi’s illustrious 12-year tenure. Under the compassionate leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, basic amenities such as electricity, toilets, and drinking water were delivered to the homes of 25 crore people within just 12 years. Bank accounts were opened for every individual, arrangements were made for 5 kg of free monthly rations, medical treatment coverage of up to ₹5 lakh was provided, and gas connections were distributed. Additionally, electricity was brought to 3 crore people for the first time. Today, 3 crore ‘Lakhpati Didis’ are experiencing this compassion firsthand. We ourselves have heard the poor say during various election campaigns that India has never before had a Prime Minister who showed such sensitivity towards the underprivileged. Key initiatives include the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, the abolition of the practice of Triple Talaq, the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to grant Indian citizenship to long-term refugees, and the repeal of 160-year-old British-era laws in favor of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and…The implementation of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita is one of many such historic decisions. The resolve to create a Naxal-free India was a goal that initially surprised many, raising questions about its feasibility. Yet, in a relatively short span, the decades-old Naxalism problem has largely moved towards elimination, and the entire region is now advancing within the mainstream of development. Measures such as the zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, surgical strikes, air strikes, and ‘Operation Sindoor’ have not only given a new direction to India’s security policy but have also offered a fresh perspective on defense policy to many other nations. Furthermore, initiatives such as the formation of the Ministry of Cooperation, the strengthening of departments related to animal husbandry, dairy, and fisheries, the provision of Minimum Support Price (MSP) based on a 50 percent profit margin, and robust development in agriculture and infrastructure have made Modi ji a beloved leader among farmers.
Shri Shah noted that Prime Minister Modi has worked tirelessly for 25 years, putting in 18 to 20 hours a day without taking a single day off. Throughout his public life, he has remained untainted by corruption and, rather than limiting himself to his own family, has embraced the entire nation as his family. People wholeheartedly appreciate and endorse Modi ji’s leadership, his tenure, and his achievements, regarding him as a source of inspiration. Extending his heartfelt congratulations once again to the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, Shri Shah expressed the collective wish that God grants him a long life. He expressed the hope that the illustrious Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji continues to lead the country for a long time and that, under his leadership, the vision of a Developed India (Viksit Bharat), Self-Reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat), and Glorious India (Gauravshali Bharat) is realized.
