Jodhpur: Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat targeted the former Ashok Gehlot government regarding the reorganization of municipal corporations, stating that the democratic system was made a mockery of by increasing the number of wards for political gain. To avoid an impending defeat, the then-government bifurcated the municipal corporations in Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Kota and increased the number of wards. Speaking to the media at Jodhpur Airport on Wednesday, Shekhawat noted that Jodhpur previously had 65 wards, a number that was raised to 100. Subsequently, the city was split into two municipal corporations. Similar divisions were carried out in Jaipur and Kota—decisions driven solely by political motives. Shekhawat stated that a unified Jodhpur municipal board would be formed in the future।

No awkward situation within the party regarding ticket distribution.
Addressing questions about alleged discontent within the BJP regarding ticket distribution for the civic body elections, Shekhawat remarked that the BJP operates with a spirit of family. All party workers are working together. The ‘Lotus’ will bloom not just in Jodhpur, but across Rajasthan.
Shekhawat stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts have been made over the past 12 years to develop the nation and bring positive changes to the lives of ordinary citizens. In Rajasthan, the government led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has overseen unprecedented development work in every assembly constituency over the last two and a half years.
Upon seeing Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at the airport, Dhannaram Chaudhary—a party worker who had sought the BJP ticket for Ward 10—broke down in tears. Shekhawat, affectionately known as ‘Gajju Banna’ across Rajasthan, embraced Chaudhary and said, “Don’t worry, stay cheerful; the party will give you plenty more opportunities. Let us both work together for the party.” Basking in the affection of Gajju Banna, the frown vanished from Dhannaram Chaudhary’s face, replaced by a smile.
