New Delhi. The Rajputana Royals performed brilliantly in the inaugural Archery Premier League (APL) organized by the Archery Association of India at the Yamuna Sports Complex in the capital, winning the title. The title match between Rajputana Royals and Prithviraj Yoddha was a close contest, going into a shootout. Rajputana Royals certainly managed to win the title. However, Prithviraj Yoddhas certainly impressed the audience with their accurate shots. While they fell short of the title, their performance was commendable. Rajputana Royals made a comeback in the title match, winning the match that went to a shootout and claiming the APL title. In the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the match went into a shootout after the sets were tied. While the Royals’ two best compound archers—Ojas Devtale and Ella Gibson—shot the target, none of the Warriors’ four archers could hit the yellow dot. For the Royals, recurves Mete Gajos and Ankita Bhakat, along with Gibson and Devtale, helped their team win the trophy, losing just once in 12 matches on their way to the title.
The Warriors won the first set by a margin of 78-77. In the next set, the Royals came back with a margin of 78-75 to level the score at 2-2. In the third set, the Warriors’ archers made history by scoring 10 points on all eight arrows, securing a record-breaking 80-77 victory. In the fourth set, Grande needed 9 points to secure the championship for the Warriors. However, she managed 8, and the Royals won the set 78-77, leveling the score at 4-4. That sent the game to a shootout. Gibson and Detale did the rest, hitting the target twice. (Sports Editor)
