New Delhi. The first Delhi Pro Volleyball League has been announced here. It was stated that this first Delhi Pro Volleyball League will start after the conclusion of the IPL cricket tournament. At an event here, it was announced that the league will have six teams. The first Delhi Pro Volleyball League (DPVL) will be organized in the national capital this year.
Two former Indian volleyball players, Neeti Rawat and Jasoda Gulia, have laid its foundation. The event organized for this league was attended by well-known former and current players, coaches, and officials from Delhi and across the country.
Kuldeep Vats, a pillar of volleyball in Delhi, who has left an indelible mark as a player and now as a sports official for many decades, praised the efforts of Neeti and Jasoda, saying, “The Delhi Pro Volleyball League (DPVL) is a unique initiative, and the Delhi Volleyball Association will leave no stone unturned to make it a success. Neeti and Jasoda have brought a golden dream for Delhi volleyball. This league will promote volleyball and provide new talent to the country. Children will learn a lot.”
In response to a question about the Delhi Pro Volleyball League (DPVL), Neeti Rawat said, “We will start the DPVL after the IPL cricket tournament concludes. There will be six teams. The winning and runner-up teams will also receive cash prizes. The league can be held at the IG Stadium or Talkatora Indoor Stadium.”
Kuldeep Vats, President of the Delhi Olympic Association and Joint Secretary of the Volleyball Federation of India, said, “Earlier, there was a system for installing poles for volleyball nets at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, but that is no longer the case. He also appealed to the NDMC and the Union Home Minister to make arrangements so that volleyball competitions can be held again at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium.” According to Jasoda and Neeti, “In the Delhi Pro Volleyball League, each team will have half the players from Delhi and the other half from across India.”
Delhi Volleyball Association President Sudhir Vats said, “We have organized major tournaments in Delhi before. With Kuldeep Vats’ extensive experience, the event will be a great success.”
On this occasion, each player of the Delhi boys’ team, which was the runner-up in the National Junior Volleyball Championship held in Pilani, was honored with a garland and a cash prize of five thousand rupees. The Delhi girls’ team, which lost in the quarter-finals of the same championship, was also honored with gifts. (Sports Editor)
