New Delhi: Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, today launched the ‘Cell Broadcast Alert System’—a system developed in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and under the guidance and suggestion of Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Amit Shah. Through this state-of-the-art system, critical information related to disasters, emergency situations, and public safety can be transmitted directly and instantly to citizens’ mobile phones.
In this context, a successful nationwide trial of the system was also conducted today. During the trial, an emergency alert message, accompanied by a beep sound, was displayed on citizens’ mobile phones. This initiative marks a significant step towards ensuring the rapid and effective dissemination of information during future natural disasters, severe weather conditions, and other emergency situations.
