Says, anyone supporting delimitation will be 21st century Ettappans

CHENNAI: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi today warned that anyone who supports the law that the BJP is planning to introduce to redraw parliamentary constituencies is committing the greatest betrayal against Tamil Nadu. “History will record them as the Ettappans of the 21st century”, he said.
Talking to reporters here today, Gandhi said, “any political party or person who is supporting the BJP in its quest to pass the delimitation bill is betraying the people of Tamil Nadu and history will remember them as the 21st century Ettappans.”
Gandhi said, this is important for future of Tamil people, Tamil language and the state of Tamil Nadu. He said there are attempts by the BJP to pass the delimitation bill in the Parliament.
“Delimitation is designed to disenfranchise and take away the power from the people of Tamil Nadu”, he warned adding, “this is a BJP conspiracy”.
Referring to the historical character Ettappan, who was symbolic of the betrayal of the people of Tamil Nadu, he said, anybody who supports delimitation is betraying Tamil Nadu and its future, and is allowing the RSS and the BJP to attack the people of Tamil Nadu and future of Tamil Nadu.
The Leader of Opposition said, no Tamil person should support delimitation. “Every single person in Tamil Nadu should oppose delimitation
Every Tamil or national party should defeat delimitation in the House”, he asserted.
