Kanpur. Farmers in Uttar Pradesh will now be able to grow cherry tomatoes without soil. This will be possible with the new Japanese technology, iMAC Film Farming. Experiments conducted at the Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology (CSAU) in Kanpur have yielded impressive results. Scientists say that in the future, farmers will be able to multiply their income by growing tomatoes and other vegetables using this technology.

Research on this technology was initiated a year ago in the Vegetable Department of CMA University. Agricultural scientist Dr. Rajeev said that this technology was learned from Japan and is now being implemented in our farming area. Its special feature is that it does not require soil. Even without soil, a good harvest of cherry tomatoes has been produced. Recently, Dr. KV Raju, Chief Minister Yogi’s economic advisor, visited the university and described it as very useful for farmers.
Dr. Rajeev explained that IMAC film farming is more effective than general hydroponics. It requires up to 75 percent less water, making it suitable for cultivation in water-scarce areas, rocky terrain, and deserts. In Japan, the GABA compound is used, which prevents plant stress. This prevents wilting or other problems.

Scientists say this technology will increase farmers’ incomes because it uses less water and requires less fertile soil. Its taste and quality are also superior to other tomato varieties.

How to Cultivate
Dr. Rajeev explained that farmers can cultivate cherry tomatoes without soil using special polyethylene sheets. These sheets are made from hydrogen membranes. Japanese experts will provide these sheets to CSA University free of charge for two years. They are roll-like. For cultivation, these sheets are spread over an area of one to two thousand square meters. Underneath this sheet is a thermocol sheet, then cocopeat is placed on a special polythene sheet. The plant is planted in it, where plants are planted instead of seeds.

How to get nutrients
Dr. Rajeev explained that water is supplied to the sheets using a dripping system. In this, we dissolve key nutrients. These include iron, boron, zinc, and others.
