PM Releases Commemorative Postage Stamp and Coin

The sunday mail
New Delhi. The RSS is celebrating its centenary year in Delhi. On Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi participated in the RSS’s centenary celebrations. During the celebrations, he released a specially designed commemorative stamp and coin depicting the RSS’s contribution to the nation. The RSS will celebrate its centenary year from Vijayadashami this year to Vijayadashami in 2026. PM Modi then delivered his address at the ceremony.

In his address, the PM said that it is our good fortune to witness the centenary year of an organization like the RSS. He extended his best wishes to the volunteers and paid tribute to RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. Addressing the ceremony, PM Modi said that today is Mahanavami. Today is the day of Goddess Siddhidatri. I extend my Navratri greetings to all my countrymen. Tomorrow is the grand festival of Vijayadashami. It is the victory of justice over injustice, the triumph of truth over falsehood, and the triumph of light over darkness. Vijayadashami is a timeless proclamation of this idea and belief of Indian culture. The establishment of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh 100 years ago on such a grand festival was no coincidence. It was the revival of a tradition dating back thousands of years, in which national consciousness periodically manifests in new incarnations to meet the challenges of the era. In this era, the Sangh is the virtuous incarnation of that eternal national consciousness.

Prime Minister Modi informed that today, in commemoration of the Sangh’s glorious 100-year journey, the Government of India has issued special postage stamps and commemorative coins. The 100-rupee coin features the national emblem on one side and a magnificent image of Bharat Mata in the Varada Mudra with a lion on the other. Over the past century, the RSS has played a significant role in the fields of education, health, social welfare, and disaster relief. RSS volunteers have actively participated in relief and rehabilitation work during natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and cyclones. Furthermore, various RSS affiliate organizations have contributed to empowering youth, women, and farmers, promoting public participation, and strengthening local communities.

The RSS was founded by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in 1925 in Nagpur, Maharashtra, as a volunteer-based organization. Its mission is to promote cultural awareness, discipline, service, and social responsibility among citizens. The centenary celebrations not only honor the RSS’s historical achievements but also its enduring contribution to India’s cultural journey and its message of national unity.
