Central Government Approves Opening of 57 New Kendriya Vidyalayas

New Delhi. The Central Government has approved the opening of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas. In a Cabinet meeting, the government allocated ₹5,862 crore for this project over a period of nine years, starting from 2026-27. Of this amount, ₹2,585 crore will be spent on construction and infrastructure, while ₹3,277 crore has been allocated for the operation of the schools. Additionally, a Pulse Self-Reliance Mission has been approved with a budget of ₹11,440 crore, which will run over six years.

The Cabinet has increased the minimum support price (MSP) for wheat by ₹160 per quintal, bringing it to ₹2,585 per quintal. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the estimated procurement during the Rabi season 2026-27 is likely to be 297 lakh metric tonnes and the amount to be paid to farmers under the proposed MSP is estimated to be Rs 84,263 crore.
