New Delhi. The Board of Control for Cricket in India today announced the Indian team for the Australia tour. Shubman Gill has been appointed captain of the ODI team, while Suryakumar Yadav will captain the T20 team. The Indian cricket team is scheduled to play a three-match ODI and five-match T20 series against Australia starting October 19th.
Shubman Gill, who has been an excellent captain in Tests, has now been appointed captain of the ODI team as well. With the World Cup 2027 in mind, 38-year-old Rohit Sharma has been removed from the captaincy. It’s worth noting that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be seen playing in the Indian jersey after a gap of seven months. They were last seen playing in the Champions Trophy final in Dubai. Virat and Rohit’s participation in the Australia tour was also in doubt, but now they have been selected.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was not included in the ODI team. Washington Sundar replaced him. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel has been included in the ODI team. Due to Rishabh Pant’s injury, he has been selected as the second wicketkeeper. KL Rahul is the first choice wicketkeeper. Sanju Samson’s name was also discussed for this position, but he was not selected for the ODIs. All-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the entire Australia tour due to injury. Jasprit Bumrah is out of the ODI series but will be seen in the T20 series.
