New Delhi. Kaustubh Singh and Tanish made a strong start with a win at the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship being held at the DLTA Complex here. With this victory, top seed Kaustubh Singh of Uttar Pradesh and fourth seed Tanish Nanda of Chandigarh advanced to the second round of the Boys Under-14 Singles category of the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship. Kaustubh Singh started the series with a resounding victory, defeating Hariharan Mahamuni 9-2 in less than an hour. Hariharan won the first game, after which Kaustubh from Uttar Pradesh managed to win eight games. He lost only two games in the entire match. Furthermore, he maintained control from the baseline and secured victory with sharp serves. Tanish Nanda also maintained control and delivered a stellar performance, defeating Rishav Prasad by a 9-0 margin. He won all his games, not losing a single game, and maintained his momentum, breaking his opponent’s serve every time. Sixth seed Monodeep Dey of West Bengal also impressed everyone with a 9-1 victory over Ansh Jalota. Dey repeatedly broke Ansh’s serve and delivered an impressive performance, losing just one game.
The championship is supported by DCM Shriram Limited and organized under the auspices of the All India Tennis Association and the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association. The Fenesta Open is India’s largest domestic tennis championship, where top contenders from across the country participate and make their mark. It is also being reported that the winners of this prestigious title will receive a kit allowance in the junior category. The Under-16 and Under-14 winners and runners-up will also receive a tennis scholarship of Rs 25,000 each, it is said. (Sports Editor)
