Jaipur,. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot strongly attacked the BJP for continuously trying to downplay the Congress’ contribution in India’s freedom struggle. He said that the BJP-RSS have spread a lot of misinformation regarding Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Now the BJP-RSS must definitely answer, what exactly did they do for Bhagat Singh?

“One of the Congress Presidents Mahatma Gandhi met the Viceroy to request commutation of Sardar Bhagat Singh’s death sentence. Another Congress President Pandit Nehru went to meet Shaheed-e-Azam in jail. The third Congress President Subhash Chandra Bose held mass gatherings in support of Bhagat Singh. Under the leadership of the fourth Congress President Sardar Patel, a resolution in support of Bhagat Singh was passed in the Congress session. Let the RSS, BJP and Hindu Mahasabha tell, why did Savarkar, Hedgewar, Golwalkar and Mukherjee not utter even a single word in support of Sardar Bhagat Singh?”
Retweeting this, Shri Gehlot wrote:
“The BJP-RSS have carried out a lot of propaganda on this subject. Now they must definitely answer this question.”
It is noteworthy that yesterday former Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot held a press conference and strongly criticised the BJP for turning the 150-year commemorative events of ‘Vande Mataram’ into a political propaganda exercise.
