LOK SABHA SPEAKER INAUGURATES NEW BUILDING OF UDAIPUR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

New Delhi/Udaipur,। Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today affirmed that India has emerged as a major global investment hub. He noted that many developed countries are now keen to invest in India, adding that the skills and knowledge of Indian youth are in high demand
worldwide. Shri Birla also expressed satisfaction that the nation has become a leading centre for innovation and startups. The Speaker made these remarks while inaugurating the new building of the Udaipur Chamber of Commerce in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Calling Udaipur a unique city of lakes, mountains, culture, and heritage, Shri Birla said that visiting it is always a pleasant experience. He observed that Udaipur’s role as a city of tourism is a source of pride, providing employment to millions. Furthermore, its resources in minerals, handicrafts, and trade have made it a major national trade centre. Shri Birla affirmed that the progress achieved in Udaipur is strengthening the entirety of Rajasthan and India.
The Speaker said that the new Chamber building is a symbol of the Udaipur trading community’s unity and future dreams, hoping it will emerge as a key centre for discussion and work for entrepreneurs, small traders, and startups. Shri Birla urged stakeholders to immediately focus on making Udaipur an innovation hub, specifically exhorting youth to promote innovation based on local resources. He stressed the importance of discussing all possibilities related to innovation and startups while maintaining a critical harmony between tourism and trade for the city’s development. Recognizing MSMEs as the backbone of the economy, he noted that schemes like Mudra Yojana and Credit Guarantee are greatly supporting small traders. He assigned the Chamber the responsibility of ensuring these schemes are brought to the maximum number of people.
Shri Birla observed that the nation has witnessed rapid infrastructure development in recent years, including advancements in roads, transportation, and modern buildings. He noted that the new Chamber building itself stands as a reflection of Udaipur’s growing capabilities. In conclusion, he offered a guiding principle for the city, stating: “Development as well as heritage — should be the direction for Udaipur.”
