DC School Cup:
Modern School Barakhamba Road becomes champion in both boys’ and girls’ categories

New Delhi. The boys’ and girls’ teams of Modern School Barakhamba Road have become the champions of the DC School Cup tournament. The Modern School Barakhamba Road boys’ team displayed a brilliant performance, defeating St. Thomas School by 57 runs to claim the title. In the girls’ category, the Modern School Barakhamba Road girls defeated DPS RK Puram by 133 runs to win the tournament.

In this tournament played for the DC School Cup, 16 schools participated in the boys’ competition and 4 schools in the girls’ category, showcasing their talent.
In the boys’ final, Modern School Barakhamba Road defeated St. Thomas School by 57 runs. Batting first, Tanmay Chaudhary scored 118 runs off 65 balls and captain Varun Sharma added 76 runs off 41 balls to post a score of 215/5. Modern then restricted St. Thomas to 158/8 with the help of Grahit Gumber’s 3/43 and Tanmay’s 1/15, making Modern the double champion. In the girls’ final, Modern School Barakhamba Road defeated DPS RK Puram by 133 runs to win the title. Batting first, opener Myra Rewal scored 83 runs off 53 balls and captain Kashvi Kumar scored 118 runs off 62 balls to take Modern to 240/2. Bowling with discipline, Avani Agarwal took 1/12 wickets, restricting DPS to 107/3 despite Vaibhavi Dudeja’s 75* runs off 63 balls. The DC School Cup – Delhi Capitals’ largest inter-school T20 tournament – celebrates the city’s sporting identity while also discovering the next generation of talent with kits and professional match-day setups at premium venues like the Arun Jaitley Stadium and GMR Ground, officiated by BCCI-qualified officials.

The Delhi Capitals team participates in both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Delhi Capitals, co-owned by the GMR Group and JSW Group, was launched in 2008 as Delhi Daredevils. It was rebranded in 2019. In 2020, the team reached its first final. In 2023, Delhi Capitals became one of the five founding teams of the Women’s Premier League.
