New Delhi | The National Uttarayani Festival 2026 was grandly organized on January 14th at Central Park, Rajiv Chowk, Connaught Place, Delhi. It gave a new identity to the culture of Uttarakhand in the national capital. This event was organized under the joint auspices of the Parvatiya Lok Vikas Samiti and Sukhi Foundation. Professor Surya Prakash Semwal, President of the Parvatiya Lok Vikas Samiti,

played the primary and leading role in conducting the program. Rajeshwar Painyuli, advisor to the Parvatiya Lok Vikas Samiti, played a significant role in the conception, political coordination, and guidance of the program. Garhwal Lok Sabha MP Anil Baluni, Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, and Delhi Government PWD Minister Pravesh Verma were present as chief guests. The chief guests described the Uttarayani Festival as a powerful medium for Uttarakhand’s culture, social harmony, and national unity, and pledged to make such events even grander in the future. They also appreciated the efforts of the organizing institutions, artists, and social organizations and assured their continued support.

The most prominent and attractive feature of the festival was the mythological theatrical adaptation “Pandava Katha – Chakravyuh.” In this presentation, the events of the thirteenth day of the Mahabharata war – the entry of the brave Abhimanyu into the Chakravyuh, his struggle, and his martyrdom – were staged effectively with pure mythological Garhwali dialogues and modern sound and lighting technology. This theatrical adaptation was presented by more than 30 artists under the guidance of Dr. Rakesh Bhatt. In addition, the procession of Maa Nanda Devi’s palanquin and the presentation of folk dances and songs by women from various states further enhanced the grandeur of the program. Personalities who have made significant contributions in the fields of culture, social service, and nation-building were honored with the Rashtra Gaurav, Delhi Gaurav, and Himalaya Gaurav awards. Thanks and appreciation were expressed to all the institutions, artists, volunteers, and supporting organizations associated with this event.
