Even inciting religious sentiments won’t work

New Delhi: Uttarakhand in-charge General Secretary and MP Kumari Shailaja launched a major attack on Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday over the issue of corruption. Shailaja said that not only the people of the state but also his own party members have turned against Chief Minister Dhami. The people of Uttarakhand will not be misled by attempts to incite religious sentiments. The Ankita Bhandari murder case and the suicide of farmer Sukhwant Singh have exposed the deteriorating law and order situation and corruption in the state. Shailaja said that there are countless cases like Ankita’s. The farmer’s suicide has exposed the entire system of corruption. Regarding the electoral strategy against the BJP in Uttarakhand, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with state leaders at Indira Bhavan.  Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, State President Ganesh Godiyal, Leader of the Legislative Party Yashpal Arya, Harak Singh Rawat, Secretary and MLA Qazi Nizamuddin, former State President Karan Mehra, and others were present at the meeting along with Shailaja. The Congress appears to be making corruption and the Ankita Bhandari murder case major issues.
On the question of UCC and restrictions on non-Hindus, Shailaja said that the BJP’s strategy has always been to somehow incite religious sentiments. That is why CM Dhami has started spreading all kinds of religious sentiments, but the people of Uttarakhand will not be swayed by anyone’s provocations. Even his own party members are leveling allegations against Chief Minister Dhami. The Ankita Bhandari murder case has exposed the malpractices prevalent in the government system. The situation in Uttarakhand is worrying.  There are countless cases like Ankita’s. The suicide of farmer Sukhwant Singh in Udham Singh Nagar is the biggest case of corruption. It has exposed how officials and the administration are engaging in corruption. The public is suffering immensely, and Sukhwant’s suicide has brought everything to light. No matter how much Chief Minister Dhami and his government try to incite religious sentiments or engage in appeasement politics, the people of Uttarakhand have made up their minds to remove them. They are only waiting for the elections. The Congress party is raising the issues of the common man. We will overthrow this corrupt government.
For the past few days, Dhami has been fanning the flames of Hindu polarization politics. Statements about jihad, then the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), and now the ban on non-Hindus in temples are being seen as indicators of polarization politics. The opposition is already protesting, and a large section of the BJP is also not in agreement with Dhami’s policies. This is because the people of Uttarakhand are angry about corruption and the lack of development.
