The Case of Basic Teachers Without TET
Government to File a Review Petition in the Supreme Court
The Sunday Mail
Dehradun. The Uttarakhand government will file a review petition in the Supreme Court regarding the deployment of basic teachers in the state without TET. After the cabinet approval, legal opinion is being sought at the government level regarding the review petition.
It is known that recently, in a case in Maharashtra, the Supreme Court ordered the mandatory TET for basic teachers. This order created confusion among the state’s basic teachers. There are approximately 18,000 basic teachers in the state who do not have TET eligibility.
After the implementation of the Right to Education Act, in 2011, the National Council for Teacher Education made TET eligibility mandatory for basic teachers. The teachers affected by the Supreme Court’s decision were deployed before 2011. This also includes teachers who were adjusted from Shiksha Mitra to Basic Education.
