New Delhi. Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, participated in the Satcom Summit on the first day of the Indian Mobile Congress 2025, held at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi.
Speaking on the theme “Space Networks for Universal Connectivity,” the Minister shared India’s vision and role in the rapidly evolving satellite communications sector. Experts from across the world attended the event organized by the Ministry of Communications. Scindia highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is now setting the pace for the world.
Scindia stated that the summit is not merely another technology conference but marks the beginning of a new revolution. This is a revolution that originates in the sky, powered by satellites, and transforms human life on the ground.
He emphasized that Satcom is not only technology but a means of justice in the digital age. It enables the farmer in Ladakh to access real-time weather updates, the fisherman in Lakshadweep to receive storm warnings, the child in a tribal village in Chhattisgarh to learn from the best teacher, and the doctor to reach patients in flood-affected Assam.
The Minister underlined that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, India has not only kept pace with global progress but is now directing it. Over the past two years, 5G connectivity has reached 99.9 percent of India’s population, 480,000 towers have been established nationwide, and the country is advancing toward the fastest Satcom rollout in the world.
Scindia informed that through the Digital India Fund, the Government of India has aimed to connect over 38,000 remote villages. To date, approximately 29,000 villages, nearly 75 percent, have been connected, with an investment of ₹40,000 crore. He emphasized that where roads cannot reach, Satcom will, exemplifying true digital inclusion. The Minister said that India’s journey from Aryabhatta to Chandrayaan-3 demonstrates that the nation’s aspirations now orbit in its own orbit, independent of others. He cited projects such as Aditya-L1, Gaganyaan, and NAVIC, emphasizing that India has evolved from being a participant to becoming a leader in innovation.
Scindia remarked that India must not merely witness global progress but conduct this symphony. The government, industry, startups, academic institutions, and international partners must collaboratively advance this mission.
He stated that the sky calls upon India’s future, and it is time to respond with courage, dedication, and collaboration.
