New Delhi. Congress has posed a formidable challenge to the BJP in Bihar. After RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was declared the Chief Ministerial face of the Grand Alliance, a victory that seemed easy for the BJP alliance is no longer being considered easy. Congress has given the Grand Alliance renewed strength by agreeing to all the conditions of its allies. Under Tejashwi’s leadership, all the constituent parties of the Grand Alliance will leave no stone unturned to win the election to save their existence. This psychological impact could upset the NDA’s equation. Tejashwi will directly target the youth and shift the election focus to local issues, targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Perhaps Congress will follow suit. Though late, Congress has made the Bihar elections interesting.
The Congress high command’s choice of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to resolve the Bihar crisis is also being considered a wise political move. Senior leader Gehlot is the biggest face of OBC within the Congress. He is also the most experienced. The Gandhi family has always put Gehlot forward to solve any kind of crisis. Gehlot has always come forward as a troubleshooter from the presidency of Sonia Gandhi to the tenure of Rahul Gandhi. When voices were raised within the party, Gehlot not only responded to the opponents by putting himself forward but also pacified them. Current president Mallikarjun Kharge also continues to have faith in Gehlot. When the issue of Bihar became serious, the high command put Gehlot forward. Only a senior experienced leader like Gehlot could pacify a senior leader like Lalu Yadav. This move of the high command worked. Gehlot met Lalu Yadav. He conveyed the views of the high command and the matter was resolved. Till now the Bihar elections were considered one-sided. But after today, experts have started believing that BJP will not be able to win the elections easily. The Grand Alliance under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav can now give a tough fight. Provided there is no statement or disturbance from the side of the Congress leaders. The party’s supreme leader Rahul Gandhi and the entire Congress will have to avoid slogans like vote thief gaddi chhod for the time being. End
