Increase in pension for elderly artists and writers
Now they will receive 6,000 rupees per month

Dehradun. On the occasion of the silver jubilee of the state’s establishment, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Himalaya Ninad Utsav-2025. At the event, held at the Himalayan Culture Centre, the Chief Minister encouraged the artists and announced an increase in the pension for elderly artists and writers. Renowned Padma Bhushan awardee and dancer Sonal Mansingh was honored on this occasion.
At the event, CM Dhami announced an increase in the monthly pension for elderly and economically disadvantaged artists and writers who have dedicated their entire lives to the pursuit of art, culture, and literature, but whose old age and poor health have made them unable to earn a living. The monthly pension for these artists has been increased by ₹3,000, to ₹6,000 per month.
The Chief Minister also announced that the honorarium and other arrangements for artists from cultural groups listed under the Culture Department would be based on the North Zone Cultural Center, a Government of India undertaking. Auditoriums will also be constructed at all district levels in the state. Furthermore, a state-level museum will be built in the state and one divisional museum each in the Kumaon and Garhwal divisions for the preservation and display of cultural heritage.
