New Delhi. Pakistan and Kuwait will face off in the final of the Hong Kong Sixes 2025, being held at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong. Both teams advanced to the final after winning their respective semi-final matches. In a high-scoring thriller, Pakistan defeated Australia by just one run. Batting first, Pakistan posted a score of 121 for two, thanks to Abdul Samad’s quickfire 34 (13) and Khawaja Nafay’s explosive 50 (14). Australia had a poor start, losing three wickets immediately. However, captain Alex Ross (36 runs, 8 balls) and Chris Green (46 runs, 12 balls) almost pulled off a miracle. With 7 runs needed off the last two balls, Green was run out while attempting the second run, giving Pakistan a resounding victory and another chance to avenge their defeats in the previous three finals. In the second semi-final, Kuwait, playing their first tournament, defeated England by 36 runs to reach the final in their debut edition. Batting first, Kuwait posted a mammoth total of 142 for 5, including a brilliant 62 off 15 balls from Meet Bhavsar. James Coles scored an unbeaten 55 (18) for England, but the team could only reach 105 for 3.
In the final, Pakistan will be aiming to win their sixth Hong Kong Sixes title, while Kuwait will be aiming for an incredible victory in their debut. The two teams have faced each other before in the group stage, with Pakistan winning. However, this time, Kuwait will look to correct their mistakes and enter the field with a strong determination. It is being said that this will make the match exciting. Speaking of India’s campaign, after a DLS victory over Pakistan on the first day, the team lost consecutively to Kuwait, UAE, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, and failed to secure a single win in the bowl stage.
