Indian Team Announced for T20 World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav to Lead the Side

New Delhi. The Indian team for the T20 World Cup, scheduled for next year, was announced on Saturday. The Indian cricket team will play the World Cup under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav. With less than 50 days remaining until the start of the T20 World Cup, India will be looking to defend its title.
The senior national men’s selection committee, headed by Ajit Agarkar, announced the 15-member squad for the global tournament on Saturday. The team was selected at a selection committee meeting held at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters. This same team will also play in the T20 series against New Zealand in January.
India won the trophy in 2024 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, defeating South Africa. India will enter this tournament with the intention of defending its title. This will be the 10th edition of the tournament. So far, no team has been able to defend its title in this tournament. Team India will have a golden opportunity to break this jinx on home soil.
The 15-member Indian team is as follows:
Suryakumar Yadav (Captain), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Ishan Kishan (Wicketkeeper), Axar Patel (Vice-Captain), Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana, Sanju Samson (Wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar.
Shubman Gill’s name is not included in the team selected by India for the T20 World Cup. Gill was the vice-captain of the team until now, but this responsibility has once again been given to Axar Patel. Gill was not in good form in T20s. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan and Rinku Singh have made a comeback to the team.
