New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday attacked the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government, alleging that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government is opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll to protect infiltrators. Addressing a rally in Taherpur via phone, he said that infiltrators in Bengal are receiving protection from the TMC. The Prime Minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will end the TMC’s “jungle raj” in West Bengal, where corruption, nepotism, and appeasement politics prevail. He said that the TMC may oppose the BJP, but the Bihar election results have opened the doors for the saffron party in the state.

Modi said, “They can oppose us as much as they want. I don’t understand why development in West Bengal is being obstructed.” He added, “You can oppose Modi, but don’t hurt the people of Bengal. Don’t deprive them of their rights. Don’t commit the sin of shattering their dreams. I humbly request the people of West Bengal with folded hands to give the BJP a chance.”

Modi said, “The TMC wants to oppose the BJP. Let them oppose us with all their might, again and again. I don’t understand why development in West Bengal is being obstructed. You can oppose Modi, but don’t make the people of Bengal unhappy. Don’t commit the sin of shattering their dreams. I humbly request the people of West Bengal with folded hands to give the BJP a chance.”

PM lays foundation stone for development projects

Earlier on Saturday morning, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects in Ranaghat, Nadia district, West Bengal. He also laid the foundation stone for the four-laning of the 17.6-kilometer-long Barasat-Barajaguli section of NH-34.
