Gehlot slams government over irregularities in SIR process
A dark chapter for democracy
The Sunday Mail
Jaipur. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that today is like a dark chapter for democracy in Rajasthan, which has exposed the BJP. Posting on X, Gehlot said that the BJP government, intoxicated with power, has hatched a shameful conspiracy to manipulate voter lists by misusing the administration.

On the last day of the SIR process, under a well-planned conspiracy, BLOs were pressured through EROs to remove the names of voters with Congress ideology. Even Form-7 was pre-filled with data and handed over to the BLOs, which is a direct attack on the fair election process. In many places, when administrative officers and BLOs refused to participate in this murder of democracy, they were threatened with transfers by people from the ruling party.

The BJP has insulted the public and democracy by committing such a brazen act. Such an attempt was even made in my constituency, Sardarpura. I have spoken to the State Election Commissioner, Mr. Naveen Mahajan, over the phone and informed him about this matter and demanded immediate action.

I also want to warn those officers in no uncertain terms who are violating the Constitution under pressure from the BJP: times change quickly. Governments will come and go, but if you act against the rules, your accountability will be ensured under the law, and strict action will be taken. Follow constitutional norms, otherwise be prepared to face the consequences.
