Kanhaiyalal’s killers should be punished soon – Gehlot

The Sunday Mail
Udaipur. Had the Kanhaiyalal murder case not occurred, the political landscape of Rajasthan and the country might have been different today. The murder caused significant political damage to the government of then Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Congress lost a winning position due to a lie. Gehlot says that during the elections, such lies were spread about Kanhaiyalal’s assistance that the public believed them to be true. Gehlot, referring to the Kanhaiyalal murder case here on Sunday, once again raised questions about the investigation by central agencies. Gehlot said that it’s been almost three years, and the central investigating agency, the NIA, has yet to bring the culprits to justice. The culprits should be punished as soon as possible.
On June 28, 2022, Kanhaiyalal Sahu was brutally murdered in broad daylight. The police acted swiftly and apprehended the killers. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the Union Home Ministry took action and handed over the investigation to the NIA. Ashok Gehlot was the Chief Minister of the state at the time. This murder proved to be a significant blow to the Gehlot government. It can be said that this murder crippled all the Gehlot government’s beneficial schemes. Gehlot lost a seemingly winning game due to the politics of polarization. This defeat was a significant blow to the Congress party. Had the Congress succeeded in repeating its government in Rajasthan, the political landscape of the country would have been different. While there were other reasons for the defeat, polarization was the most significant. By the day of voting, the election had become a Hindu-Muslim issue. Before the Congress could even begin to understand, the BJP had already won. While the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, campaigned aggressively, the Congress was riven by internal conflict. In the assembly elections, BJP had polarized the entire election by linking the Kanhaiyalal murder case with a murder case in Jaipur and accusing the Gehlot government of discrimination. BJP accused the Congress government of giving only Rs 5 lakh to Kanhaiyalal in the name of help while Rs 50 lakh was given to a person of another religion in Jaipur. Not only this, before the voting, sketches of the Kanhaiyalal murder case were released through social media. At that time, the Kanhaiyalal murder case was discussed all over the country. Gehlot said that his government did whatever it could at that time. Kanhaiya’s family was given Rs 51 lakh as aid. Two members were given jobs. If the state government had been conducting the investigation, the culprits would have been punished within six months. But the Union Home Ministry took over the investigation. Therefore, the role of the state government was over. Gehlot again alleged that the murderers were BJP members and hence they are not getting punishment till now. Gehlot said that till date neither Union Home Minister Amit Shah nor anyone else has refuted these allegations made by me. Gehlot said that the culprits should be punished as soon as possible. Kanhaiya’s family members are also worried as to why they are not getting punishment. In fact, this murder is very important for former Chief Minister Gehlot. This murder changed the state’s politics. Gehlot says no one heard the truth. A rumor spread that Kanhaiya’s family was given Rs 5 lakh and the Jaipur resident Rs 50 lakh. This was not true, but the BJP told such a lie that people believed it. Now, after the truth is out, people are remembering him and his plans. He is receiving a lot of love from the public. Everyone knows how the current Bhanwarlal Sharma government is functioning. If this government doesn’t even respond to the former Chief Minister, how will it listen to the common man? Gehlot may have lost the election, but he has continued his public relations campaign throughout the state. In this regard, he is currently touring Udaipur district. End
End
