Jaipur. A grand cultural evening was organized on Saturday to commemorate the 22nd death anniversary of the late Shri Ramji Lal Swarnkar, founding trustee of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Jaipur. The Maharashtra Best Drama Award-winning Hindi play “Karna,” written by Abhishek Narayan and directed by Kulwinder Bakshish, was staged on this occasion. Based on the great warrior and philanthropist Karna of the Mahabharata, this play powerfully presented his indomitable courage, generosity, self-respect, and human values to the audience. Vinita Joshi played the role of Karna, Nauharika Bhateja played the role of Krishna, and Farah played the role of Arjun.
Abhishek Narayan, writer and director of the play Karna, explained that Karna’s story depicts the struggles of existence, navigating a maze of moral dilemmas yet remaining unwavering in his principles of truth, honesty, and unwavering commitment, even when confronted with the moral ambiguity of his causes.

The play “Karna” highlights the life struggles, harsh circumstances, and moral complexities of the unparalleled hero and philanthropist Karna, yet also demonstrates that Karna remains a symbol of truth, honesty, and self-respect. Performed by three female performers, the play’s incorporation of traditional Indian folk and martial arts—Mayuranj Chhau, Manipuri Thang-Ta, and Kalaripayattu—made it unique. The powerful portrayal of Karna’s character envelops the audience in a trance of introspection, compassion, and profound sensitivity.

Founding Chairperson Dr. M.L. Swarnkar, speaking on this occasion, emphasized the importance of parents, teachers, and teachers, saying that everyone should be respected. It is only with their blessings that a person progresses. When you pray to God, pray for everyone’s well-being. If everyone’s well-being is achieved, yours will be as well. Dr. Swarnkar stated that this annual program is an effort to preserve art and connect the younger generation with culture. Karna’s life inspires young people to live a life of sacrifice, bravery, and compassion. Karna was not just a character but a mirror through which the complexities of human existence can be seen, understood, and experienced.

Chairperson Dr. Vikas Chandra Swarnkar stated that Mahatma Gandhi Medical University is always committed to preserving social and cultural values through such events.

The programme was attended by members of the Swarnkar family including Dr. Shobhit Swarnkar, Mrs. Meena Swarnkar, Trustee Ram Ratan Soni, Mrs. Neelam Soni, Mrs. Harman Swarnkar, Mrs. Jayashree Swarnkar, Vice Chancellor Dr. Achal Gulati, Dr. Vinay Kapoor, Dr. Sudhir Sachdev, Dr. N.D.
