Dehradun. The doors of Shri Kedarnath Dham, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, were ceremonially closed for the winter season on October 23rd, on the auspicious occasion of Bhai Dooj. Following the closure, the Panchmukhi movable idol of Baba Kedar departed for Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath, where Baba will reside at his winter seat for the next six months. Baba’s palanquin will arrive in Ukhimath on Saturday.
The closing ceremony began with special prayers and ash bath, which concluded at 8:30 a.m. amid chanting and religious rituals. The temple complex reverberated with chants of “Har Har Mahadev.”
On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Kedarnath Dham and performed special prayers and prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of the people of the state.

While talking to local pilgrimage priests, right holders and devotees, the Chief Minister said that this year a record 17.39 lakh devotees have visited Baba Kedar.
