The World Cup-winning blind women cricketers are an inspiration to the entire nation: Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya

New Delhi. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya honored the members of the Indian team that won the Blind Twenty20 World Cup at his home here. The Indian women’s team won the final by seven wickets against Nepal in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Sunday. The tournament featured six teams: India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, and the United States of America. This victory by the blind cricket team comes just after the Indian women’s team won the ICC Cricket World Cup for the first time.
Praising the blind cricketers’ victory, Dr. Mandaviya said: “The Indian Women’s Blind Cricket Team has made the country proud. Their victory is a huge inspiration for athletes with disabilities and anyone who brings glory to the country. With their willpower and courage, they achieved the unimaginable. I wish all the members the best for their future endeavors. I urge all of you to give your best in future tournaments; the entire country and the government are with you.” Indian team captain Deepika TC said: “I am very happy and honored that our Honorable Sports Minister invited us to his home to honor us. It was a pleasure to speak to him. His words will encourage not only us but also other women from the blind community to pursue sports as a career and make the country proud with their hard work and determination.”
