Harish Sharma Basketball Championship to be held on December 27-28

New Delhi. The second Harish Sharma 3×3 All India Basketball Championship (Men and Women) will be held on December 27-28 at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex, New Delhi. It has been stated that more than 127 teams have applied for the title in this second edition of the Harish Sharma 3×3 All India Basketball Championship (Men and Women).
87 teams will be finally selected, including 63 men’s and 24 women’s teams. This time, some Arjuna Award winners and a Padma Shri awardee will grace the ceremony along with other prominent guests,” said Rupam Harish Sharma, Chairperson of the Harish Sharma Championship Organizing Committee. She added that this championship is being organized in the name of the world-renowned international basketball player and eminent sports administrator, the late Shri Harish Sharma.
Teams from various states, universities, clubs, and institutions have registered for the championship.
The championship’s logo “Titu Hoops” and the tournament’s theme song were also unveiled. Rupam Harish Sharma said that the winning teams in both the men’s and women’s categories will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh. While the teams securing second and third positions will receive Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 30,000 respectively. Sudhanshu Mittal, Co-Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said, “The championship format is the future format of basketball.” “The format offers speed, stamina, and excitement in a limited time frame, and it has become entertaining globally.” Mukesh Kalia, President of the Delhi Basketball Association (DBA), stated that the Senior National Basketball Championship will be held in the last week of January 2026, and the Harish Sharma Championship is its prelude.
On this occasion, the Guest of Honor, former Union Minister Vijay Goel, DBA General Secretary Ashok Rangeen; Chairman of the Selection Committee, Harsaran Singh, DBA; Chairman of the Administration and Organizing Committee of the Kho-Kho Federation of India, M.S. Tyagi; former Secretary of TRAI, Harshvardhan, and others were also present.
Vijay Goel said, “Basketball is rapidly emerging in India, and I want this championship, organized in the name of Shri Harish Sharma, to take basketball to new heights.” Harshvardhan said, “I wish this championship, organized in the name of Harish Sharma, reaches new heights and popularity. Shri Sharma’s contribution to basketball and sports is profound.”
This championship will be played simultaneously on 3 basketball courts, providing an action-packed experience for players and spectators. The event is being organized by Prithvi Nath Club (PNC), which is affiliated with the Delhi Basketball Association (DBA). It is the official host under the aegis of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI). This tournament also has the support of FIBA 3×3 and continues PNC’s legacy of promoting basketball through major tournaments like the Prithvi Nath All India Basketball Championship.
