UTTARAKHAND LAW STUDENTS WIN PRIZES

Dehradun ।Dehradun on An impressive gathering of Law students of universities from Uttarakhand, Lawyers, Faculty members, veterans and citizens of Dehradun attended the event. Justice U C Dhyani former judge of Uttarakhand High Court and Chairman of Uttarakhand Public Service Tribunal was the Chief Guest and gave away the Prizes. Shri B P Nautiyal Senior Advocate and Prof Harsh Dobhal , Dr Ambedkar Chair Professor at Doon university were also on the Dias .

Justice Dhyani in his address gave a biographical sketch of Justice K C Dhulia highlighting his achievements and struggles. He also talked about federalism in our constitution which was the subject of the debate competition and stated that principles of ‘strong states’ was part of the Constitution . Shri B P Nautiyal was a Judge in the debate and while addressing the audience stated that India was a ‘Union of states’ and so ‘strong states’ were integral to the ‘Nation’. Prof Dobhal was the examiner of ‘Essays’ and asked the students to develop reading habits and develop rational thinking .

In the Essay competition , Arya Singh Kachhawaha of UPES , Deepika Bahukhandi of Kumaon university and Soumya Sharma of UPES won Gold, Siver, Bronze medals and cash prize of Rs 25,000/15,000/10.000/-respectively. Khushi Dhami of S S Jeena university got ‘special mention’ cash award of Rs 5000/- and a ‘gold cup’.
The Debate Winner were Shambhavi Singh and Arjun Pratap Singh of Chanakya Law College , the team won the ‘Running Trophy’ and cash prize of Rs 30,000/-. Samriddhi Mishra and Virendra Pratap Singh Rathod of UPES were ‘Runner-up’ and were awarded the ‘Running Trophy’ and cash prize of Rs 20.000/- .
The event was organised by Karmabhoomi Foundation Uttarakhand and conducted by Wg Cdr Anupama Joshi retd. Capt Himanshu Dhuliya Indian Navy (retd.) Secretary of the Foundation gave a vote of thanks.
