Union Minister Gadkari to also lay the foundation stone for the elevated road soon
The Sunday Mail
Jodhpur. Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, said that Jodhpur Airport is set to become the first airport in the state to have 6 aerobridges. Speaking to the media at the airport on Tuesday, after arriving in his home district, Union Minister Shekhawat addressed questions regarding the elevated road. He said that the tender process has been completed and the concerned agency has been given one month to start the work. The formal foundation stone laying ceremony will be held and work will begin as soon as Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is available.

On the subject of tourism, Shekhawat said that the infrastructure development undertaken in the last 11 years under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made India a leading destination on the list of the world’s most preferred tourist destinations. He said that the first prerequisite for tourism is accessible transportation. In the last decade, more than 1.5 lakh kilometers of new national highways, expressways, and roads have been built in the country. A new revolution has come in the aviation sector with more than 150 functional airports. High-speed railway networks and complete railway electrification have made the tourist experience smoother.
The Union Minister said that the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ has changed the perception of India globally. The government has invested more than ₹7,000 crore under various schemes to improve facilities at tourist destinations. He emphasized that today, the overall experience for tourists is far better and safer than before. Sharing statistics, Shekhawat said that more than 2 crore foreign tourists visited India in the last year. Domestic tourism has seen an unprecedented surge. 294 crore domestic trips have been recorded in India, which is unimaginable for any other country in the world. Due to the progress in the country’s economy, people have more disposable income, which is leading to significant investment and interest in religious tourism as well as other tourism sectors.
Taking a dig at the opposition
Taking a jibe at the opposition, Union Minister Shekhawat said that those who only indulged in politics are now surprised to see these development figures. The tourism sector will prove to be a major engine in achieving the goal of ‘Developed India 2047’. He expressed confidence that in the coming times, India will lead the world in every vertical of tourism.
