Scindia inaugurates and lays foundation stone for projects worth ₹365 crore in Tripura

Agartala: Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region and Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for eight important development projects worth a total of ₹365 crore in Tripura. These projects will give a new impetus to road connectivity, tourism, energy, and the overall development of tribal areas in the state.
Union Minister Scindia said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ashtalakshmi’ vision, North East India is no longer just a geographical frontier, but is playing the role of India’s engine of growth. The Union Minister inaugurated five projects completed at a cost of ₹270 crore. These primarily include the Jatanbari-Mandirghat via Tirthamukh road (13.775 km) and the upgradation of the KA Road from Erarpar to Ambassa (28.90 km). The construction of these roads will facilitate movement between villages, markets, schools, and hospitals, and strengthen the local economy. In addition, the Gandachera-Raishyabari-Narikel Kunja road (8.00 km) connects tribal settlements to district headquarters and essential services, significantly improving social inclusion and convenience. Scindia said that improved connectivity from Amarpur (Phatiksagar) to Chhabimura will give a new dimension to Tripura’s heritage and tourism potential. This will provide tourists with the opportunity to see ancient craftsmanship and natural heritage, and increase the income of local guides, artisans, and families.
He informed that the Solar Micro Grid project under the PM-DevINE scheme will provide clean and reliable electricity in remote and inaccessible areas, strengthening education, healthcare services, and livelihood opportunities.
*Foundation stone laid for projects worth ₹95 crore, connecting hilly and interior areas to development*
The Union Minister also laid the foundation stone for three new projects to be built at a cost of ₹95 crore. These include the Kowaifung (Panjirai) to Karbuk road (9.10 km), the Jampui (PMGSY point) to Kangrai road, and the Burighat to Sermun-II road.
These projects will ensure continuous connectivity to the hilly and interior regions, bringing remote areas into the mainstream of development. Scindia stated that the central government has invested more than ₹6.5 lakh crore in the Northeast region over the past 12 years. Every central ministry is spending 10% of its budget in the northeastern states, propelling the region towards unprecedented development.
He praised the leadership of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, saying that due to the strong center-state coordination, Tripura is setting new benchmarks in social, economic, and infrastructural development.
Furthermore, the Union Minister will visit various development sites in Tripura today. He will offer prayers at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple (Matabari), one of the country’s prominent Shakti Peethas, seeking prosperity for the state and the nation. He will also conduct an on-the-ground review of ongoing development works in Unakoti, Damboor, and other areas.
