New Delhi: The Centre for Civilisational Studies (CCS) presented the historical theatrical production “Kakori Kranti Gatha” at the Abhimanch Auditorium, National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, marking the centenary year of the historic Kakori Resistance. The programme was supported by the Sahitya Kala Parishad, Government of Delhi.
The powerful stage presentation drew the presence of intellectuals, policymakers, cultural personalities and members of civil society. Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Satya Pal Singh, former Union Minister of India, Shri Naresh Rawal, former Minister, Government of Gujarat, Swami Deepankar, and Shri Vagish Pathak, Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council.

The play commemorates the bravery and sacrifice of revolutionary freedom fighters such as Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, Rajendra Nath Lahiri, and Thakur Roshan Singh, who led the historic Kakori action on 9 August 1925 against British colonial rule.
Conceptualised and crafted by the Centre for Civilisational Studies, the play has been written by Shri Ravi Shankar, Director of CCS, and directed by Ms. Priyanka Sharma. The production also highlights the broader tradition of resistance against colonial rule by referencing earlier figures such as Tilka Manjhi, Ramji Gond, and Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.
Shri Prakash Chandra Sharma, Vice President of the Centre for Civilisational Studies, stated that narratives around India’s independence are often presented only partially, whereas initiatives such as this play aim to highlight the wider historical role of revolutionary movements and inspire the younger generation.
The organisers informed that “Kakori Kranti Gatha” will be staged across several cities in India as part of the nationwide commemoration of the Kakori Resistance Centenary.
